This site explains the early beginnings of the Greeks and how their transitional eras and progressions in the arts were shown through their sculptures.

The Archaic Age, the Hellenic Age, and the Hellenistic Age are the three main eras. The sculptures in this Web site are in conjunction with these eras and illustrates to you who they  were and tells a story of their time and of their transitions.

In order to understand and appreciate Greek sculpture, you must first understand the eras the Greeks went through. The introduction page covers a brief explanation of events prior to the main eras to give you the whole perspective.
